Safety this is is one of my pet rantings for do it yourself people ,it never ceases to amaze me that people will spend spend spend on quite an array of expensive items to do up there home and forget the one thing that will cost a small fortune in lost earnings far more than if they had got the expert in i am talking about personal safety.
Buy yourself a good pair of gloves they are inexpensive, next must be a good set of safety goggles, next a set of ear muffs if not muffs plugs if you are going to kneel on the floor then a set of kneeling pads a good pair of overalls you can even get throw a way ones now ,next a very good set of steps ,better still a small fold a way scaffold.
OK this can set you back a small fortune, but think like this can you see when you have paint in your eyes ,will you have to have time of work and lose money if you cut through your fingers ,or when you cannot hear properly because of the noise of your drilling has made you deaf ,or you are on the operating table because you have broken you leg because the old broken down steps that you where on has collapsed.
And you are limping because your knees are hurting because you did not use the kneeling pads ,all these things can happen better to be safe than sorry ,you would moan like hell if your boss at work did not give a dam about safety so think before you start any d i y project think safety ,and if you have read this and it as saved a little bit of pain then great ,lets all think safety when working at home in the end it will save you quite a lot of pain and money.
